3. Launch & Engage

The channels most agencies stopped understanding.

Digital-only agencies will tell you traditional media doesn't work. Usually that means they can't buy it.

Why This Still Matters

Digital auctions have gotten expensive. Every competitor in your category is bidding on the same keywords, and cost per lead has moved in one direction for years.

Meanwhile a billboard on the right stretch of road, a direct mail piece to the right zip codes, or a connected TV spot to a defined local audience reaches people your competitors have stopped reaching — often at a lower effective cost, and with far less competition for attention.

The catch is that traditional media punishes guesswork. Buy the wrong placement and you've spent the money before you learn anything. That's why the planning matters more here than anywhere else.

What We Buy

What we plan and place

Out-of-home

Billboards, digital boards, transit interior and exterior, station dominations, and street furniture. Placement chosen from traffic patterns and your actual customer geography, not from what the vendor is trying to move.

Direct mail

Targeted by zip code, carrier route, demographic, or your own customer list. Strong for dental, home services, and anything with a defined radius. Measurable with unique numbers and codes.

Connected TV and streaming audio

Local targeting on the platforms people actually watch and listen to now. This is where a modest local budget buys a genuinely premium impression, and it remains underused by small businesses.

Radio and local TV

Where the station's audience genuinely overlaps yours. We'll say plainly when it doesn't.

Print advertising

Trade publications, local press, and community media, where the readership is specific enough to justify it.

Creative for all of it

Designed by our creative director. Out-of-home creative has about three seconds and six words to work with — it is a genuinely different discipline from designing an ad for a screen someone is holding.

Measurement

How we measure media people say can't be measured

  • Unique phone numbers and landing page URLs per placement
  • Promo codes and mail-back offers on direct mail
  • Geographic lift — comparing inquiry volume inside the exposed area against outside it
  • Branded search volume, which reliably rises when out-of-home is working
  • Direct traffic and "how did you hear about us" captured at the point of inquiry

None of these is as precise as a click. Together they tell you enough to decide whether to renew, and that's the decision that actually matters.

How The Fee Works

How the fee works

Media buying is billed as a percentage of spend. Creative production is quoted separately, since a billboard and a direct mail run are different pieces of work.

Media costs are paid to the vendors. As with digital, we don't mark up media — you see what the placement costs and what our fee is, on separate lines.

Rates vary by channel and by volume. We'll put the whole plan in front of you with our fee shown as its own line item, so you can see exactly what you're paying us versus what you're paying the vendor.

Objections

Straight answers

Isn't this a waste compared to digital?

Sometimes. For a business with a tight service radius and cheap search clicks, digital first is the right call and we'll say so. Traditional earns its place when your digital costs have climbed, when your category is saturated with bidders, or when you need to be known rather than just found.

I can't afford a billboard.

Billboards vary enormously by location and format, and digital boards sell in rotations rather than exclusive months. Direct mail and connected TV start considerably lower. We'll show you the range before you decide anything.

How do I know anyone saw it?

See the measurement section above. What we won't do is claim precision the channel doesn't have. It's directional, it's honest, and it's enough to make a renewal decision.

Faq

Questions we get

Do you handle production as well as placement?

Yes — design, print, and vendor coordination. You get one point of contact rather than three.

How far ahead do I need to plan?

Out-of-home inventory books ahead, particularly in strong locations and peak seasons. Six to eight weeks is comfortable; less is often possible with a narrower choice of sites.

Can you do this alongside our digital?

That's the point. Traditional builds awareness and search captures it — running them separately wastes the effect. We plan them as one budget.

What if the campaign doesn't work?

Media is bought in advance and can't be refunded mid-flight, which is exactly why the planning stage is where we spend the effort. We'll model what a placement needs to produce before you commit.

Do you buy outside Chicago?

Yes. Media buying works nationally through the same vendor networks.

Tell us your radius and your monthly number and we'll show you the realistic options across every channel — including the ones we'd advise against.
